You might have already heard about Social media and Social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. But do you think  social media matters to your small or medium business? Do you need to spend time in this area to engage and attract more customers?

Well if you have heard about this term but don’t know what exactly is Social Media, Wikipedia defines social media in the following way:

“Social media are media for social interaction, using highly accessible and scalable communication techniques. Social media is the use of web-based and mobile technologies to turn communication into interactive dialogue.”

The web is soon becoming every ones reference for information and sharing their experiences. No more its just for geeks, its becoming an integral part of every ones life.

Social media and all that such a term entails is about creating, building, and fostering relationships online to get to know you, your business and your customers, its another way of marketing or word of mouth. Social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn are  just a few social media and networking sites that help with these relationships.

Obviously, strategic use of the web and all of its incredible “new technologies” has many benefits.
